Why we make our own organic tallow + calendula + chamomile cream
Over 5 years ago, while I was pregnant with my first child, I started researching organic baby care products. I had read about the toxic chemicals and preservatives in baby care products, and I was adamant not use them on my baby. Searching the internet I found many amazing DIY recipes which inspired me to embark on a DIY journey by making my own organic personal and baby care products. It has been a steep learning curve but I have never looked back.
The products I am promoting are ones I’ve perfected over the years. I love them. My friends and family love them. These products are made with only high quality natural and organic ingredients, no hidden preservatives, no nasties and our highly hydrating moisturiser does not contain ‘aqua’ aka water!
Talking about ‘aqua’ you will find almost all your favourite moisturiser brands (even the natural and organic ones) have ‘aqua’ as the first ingredient on the list. This means that water is the main ingredient for the product. And with water, there will be preservatives, otherwise bacteria will grow and thrive, as well as emulsifiers to mix water and oil together. As we know there are many preservatives and emulsifiers out there that are hormone disruptors and are harmful. So you could are paying a fortune for just water PLUS potentially harmful emulsifiers and preservatives!
Worse still, if you happen to have a skin reaction, you will struggle find out which ingredients are the culprit under the very long list of ingredients. Don’t worry, I’ve been there… I used to think I have oily skin due to the pimples and acne so I would buy ‘light’ moisturisers, i.e. heavily ‘watered’ down moisturisers, only to end up with more pimples and acne. Never again! For the last 4 years, I just slap on pure tallow with olive oil plus vitamin E, my skin is glowing. No pimples or acne!Well, that’s it from me.
